It’s been quite a hiatus since our last interview but hey, we’ve been busy. What with the World Cup going on and the fact that half our office is a construction zone, it’s been hard to find an opportunity to chat!

Luckily we were able to track down papa bear Jym Snedeker (affectionately referred to as “Uncle Jym” by all those who’ve met him) amongst the rubble and drywall to grill him about life, the universe and, most importantly, cheese.

Q: What is your favorite word?
A: “Circumnavigate” or “Subcutaneous.”

Q: What is your least favorite word?
A: “Fine.”

Q: What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
A: Sincerity.

Q: What turns you off?
A: Thoughtlessness and inelegance.

Q: What is your favorite curse word?
A: “Fuck.” But “Twatburger” takes a close 2nd.

Q: What sound or noise do you love?
A: Whole-hearted laughter.

Q: What sound or noise do you hate?
A: My alarm clock.

Q: What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
A: A writer for SNL or 30 Rock. Any job on SNL or 30 Rock, really. I would happily be the cue card guy. My block print is pretty strong.

Q: What profession would you not like to do?
A: Septic Tank Repairman or Emergency Room Stomach Pump Specialist. Anything involving feces or vomit is a no-go.

Q: If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
A: “Meet my friend Dionysus, you can call him Bacchus. He’ll show you where to find the good cheese and then take you to the orgy.”

We are several weeks into the remodel of our Crosby Street studio, and things are starting to take shape. Walls have come down, and walls have gone up. Dust has risen, and settled, and risen again. Working conditions can be at times loud and messy, but when all is said and done our space is going to be pretty spot on. Hunker down, brave LK soldiers. The unification is upon us.

Every office needs a foodie, and LK is blessed to have one with impeccable taste and a stomach of steel in the form of production coordinator Steve Renn!

When not eating sandwiches, Steve also heads the technical department, manages editorial operations, runs the LK website…come to think of it, there’s almost nothing he can’t do.

A: Not a huge fan of power sanding.

A: Actor.

LK resident foodie Steve Renn has embarked on a city-wide tour of deliciously amazing sandwiches. Inspired by New York Magazine’s list of the 101 Best Sandwiches in New York, Steve has resolved to eat each of the 101 sandwiches in 101 days flat. That’s one per day, people! How’s my math?

Check out his interactive map where he photographs and reviews each sandwich and will ultimately re-rank the sandwiches in his own personal order. Serious culinary heroics.

France may be flailing at the World Cup, but they do have one winner in the form of Sébastien (the Raging Seabass) Larreur!

In addition to animating, Sébastien also photographs extremely well.

A: “Cloud.” I like the names of their shapes (nimbostratus, cumulus, cumulonimbus…) and “cloud” sounds good in any language (nuage, nube, kumo, yùn…).

A: “Globalization.”

A: Sensitivity, woods, mist and skinny girls with big eyes.

A: Pride.

A: “Va te faire foutre enculé de ta race.”

A: Rain drops hitting the roof heard under a duvet.

Q: What sound or noise do you hate?
A: Phone ring.

A: Wood sculptor.

A: Door-to-door insurance salesman.

A: He’d say “Dude, what the hell is with those Christians? They keep talking to me all the time! And they talk to me the most on my fucking day off!”

Daniel joins the entire LK staff in wishing Producers Scott and Melissa very happy respective birthdays.

Scott, born on June 6th, shares a birthday with noteworthy American actor Paul Giamatti. Like Paul, Scott also refuses to drink “f-ing Merlot.” He prefers Chablis.

Melissa shares her June 12th birthday with late-90’s “musician” Meredith Brooks. Unlike Meredith, Melissa does not write and sing terrible songs about being a bitch. Melissa’s songs are more subtle and tender.

We promise not to serve the birthday boy and girl cream cheese and candles on a plate, although Daniel might be disappointed.

Last Tuesday the Betterment Bureau spent the evening shooting footage to use in the opening sequence (etc!) for the upcoming Philippines Mural Tour and documentary, sponsored by World Up, Trust Your Struggle, and MVMT.
